Eco Church
St John's is in the process of developing as an eco church so we are delighted that we have just received our silver award. This follows on from the bronze award we received in 2022. We are proudly displaying our badge on our website, and you can see our certificate below. Eco Church is an A Rocha project that seeks to show how the gospel can be good news for God's earth.
As a church, we are looking to positively engage with the community in a variety of ways to encourage people to look at their lifestyle and carbon footprint.
Whilst we encourage 'reduce' and 'reuse', sometimes we have to recycle.
Where to recycle locally?
We are keen to promote recycling opportunities apart from the standard green/blue bins and waste recycling centres in Warrington
Tablet blister packs can be recycled at participating Superdrug stores see https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB/brigades/medicine-packet-uk for details.
You can see lots of other recycling programmes on their website including for things such as toothpaste tubes, contact lenses, foil balloons and much, much more: https://www.terracycle.com/en-GB/brigades
Thin plastics can now be taken to participating Morrisons, Sainsburys and Coop stores https://www.recyclenow.com/recycle-an-item/plastic-bags-and-wrapping
